LYSIMACHIA Firecracker

More commonly known as Loosestrife.

An elegant upright perennial plant native to North America.

Firecracker forms mounds of whorled lance shaped burgundy or purple leaves which fade to almost green as the season passes and summer turns to autumn.

When left untouched these mounds can make sizeable patches.

In mid-summer, slender stalks rise above the foliage and carry bright yellow slightly pendant star shaped flowers which contract well with the dark foliage.

Lysimachia Firecracker is excellent in the border, bog garden or at the edge of ponds and outstanding in containers or beneath shrubs.

A very useful cut flower the flower stalks may need to be staked but if planted at the back of the border other plants can be used for support.

Loosestrife is tolerant of a wet or boggy site and light shade but prefers full sun and a moist humus-rich soil.

Our Lysimachia plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions.

We ask all our buyers to remember Loosestrife is a living items and its appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

 We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Lysimachia are checked and inspected visually before packing. Due to the nature of the product we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Lysimachia Firecracker will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission. Refunds will be issued after items are received back in a saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been shipped in error.
