DICENTRA spectabilis Alba. White.

DICENTRA spectabilis Alba

Was re-named Lamprocapnos spectabilis Alba in 2011.

Also known as White Bleeding Heart or White Dutchmans Breeches and said to originate from China.

A bushy, clump forming perennial with light green, fern-like foliage.

Dainty, white, heart shaped flowers dangle enticingly above the foliage on arching stems in late spring.

Dicentra Alba is a graceful and elegant plant, ideal for lighting up a woodland garden or for brightening up a shady border or simply used as part of a cottage garden scheme.

Flourishes in humus rich soil under tall shrubs and trees.

Although usually grown in shade Dicentra can do very well in a sunny spot providing the soil stays sufficiently damp.

Once planted does not like to be disturbed.

Dicentra spectabilis Alba was named by Royal Horticultural Society as one of the top 200 plants of the last 200 years.

Can grow to a height of 3ft. (1m).

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.

All pictures used are of mature plants in bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.

Our Dicentra plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

We ask all our buyers to remember Dicentra plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Dicentra are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery at seedsplantsbulbs.com. Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Dicentra Alba will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
