Carrot Touchon Seeds – Sweet, Coreless Nantes Variety

Carrot Touchon Seeds – Sweet, Coreless Nantes Variety

Product Description

Overview

Developed in France, Carrot Touchon is an heirloom Nantes-type carrot celebrated for its superb flavour, tender texture, and consistent shape. Unlike traditional tapered carrots, Touchon roots are 6–7 inches long and blunt-ended, offering uniform, attractive carrots that are easy to harvest and prepare. Their rich, dark orange colour and coreless interior make them stand out both visually and in taste.

Taste and Culinary Use

Renowned for their sweetness and crisp texture, Touchon carrots are ideal for a wide range of culinary uses. Slice them into fresh summer salads, roast them with new potatoes, or enjoy them steamed and seasoned as a side dish. Their tender, juicy flesh also makes them perfect for juicing and snacking straight from the garden. When harvested early, they produce delicious baby carrots that are both decorative and flavorful.

Growing Information

Carrot Touchon is a fast-growing and easy-to-manage variety, maturing approximately 60–65 days after sowing. It performs excellently in open ground but is equally suitable for containers, troughs, or large planters, making it a great choice for gardeners with limited space. Early sowings are especially successful, providing one of the first sweet harvests of the season. This reliable Nantes strain thrives in well-drained, fine soil and benefits from consistent watering for even root development.
