Large Flowering Crocus. Purple.

Large Flowering Crocus. Purple.

Large Flowering Crocus represents some of the most spectacular early spring blooms in the garden, offering vibrant colour when most other plants remain dormant.

These robust bulbs are significantly larger than their species cousins, producing flowers that can reach 4-5 inches in height with substantial, cup-shaped blooms.

Large Flowering Crocus with their rich purple blooms create dramatic displays when planted in masses

These hardy perennials thrive in well-drained soil and full to partial sun, making them ideal for naturalizing in lawns, rock gardens, or border fronts.

Plant bulbs in autumn, 3-4 inches deep and spacing them 3 inches apart for optimal impact.

They’re remarkably cold-tolerant, surviving temperatures well below freezing.

Large Flowering Crocus typically bloom from late February through April, depending on climate and variety.

Each bulb produces multiple flowers over several weeks, and established clumps will multiply naturally, creating increasingly impressive displays year after year.

Beyond their ornamental value, these flowers provide crucial early nectar for bees and other pollinators emerging from winter dormancy.

The blooms close at night and during overcast weather, opening wide in sunshine to reveal their bright orange stamens.

With minimal maintenance requirements and reliable performance, Large Flowering Crocus offer maximum impact for minimal effort, making them essential components of any spring garden design.
