COLOCASIA Hawaiian Punch

A tender, clump forming perennial perhaps better known as Elephant Ears, sometimes referred to as Taro.

Bright pink upright stems often over a meter tall are topped with large, matt green, heart shaped leaves.

These leaves regularly reach 60cm or more long.

 The underside of the foliage has an attractive red margin and red veins.

Imposing and very stylish the leaves are a wonderful backdrop for other brightly coloured flowers and also gives the garden an exotic look and feel.

Excellent in the foliage garden Colocasia Hawaiian Punch makes a majestic architectural specimen.

At its best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade and will reach a metre or more high by a metre wide.

Prefers a slightly acid soil but it is a very thirsty plant and thrives in wet or boggy conditions even in the margins of ponds but if planting in water ensure the crown sits above water level.n

Adaptable enough to be successfully grown in a large container but again moisture is the key and attention must be paid to watering.

Frost tender, as winter approaches lift and store the tuber in a frost-free environment.

Container grown plants can simply be moved to a frost-free site for the winter months.

Colocasia are believed to have originated in Asia but Hawaiian Punch was bred in USA.

Our Colocasia plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions

We ask all our buyers to remember Colocasia plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year and just enjoying a well-earned rest before bursting into action for the new season. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.

 We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. In the unlikely event of a problem please advise us within 48hrs of delivery. Due to the nature of the product we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. Colocasia Hawaiian Punch will only be accepted for return after seller has been informed and given permission.  Refunds will be issued when items are received back in saleable condition within 14 days from original dispatch date. Buyer must pay all return charges except where an item has been dispatched in error.
