A Golden Icon of the Spring Garden
The California daffodil is an early-blooming heritage narcissus bulb cultivar prized for its vibrant golden-yellow petals and wide, ruffled trumpet. Named after the sunshine state itself, this daffodil captures that same warmth and radiance, bringing bold colour and energy back into your garden during the coldest, greyest months of the year. If you’re searching for spring flowering bulbs that deliver maximum visual impact for minimal effort, California is a proven favourite among gardeners and landscapers alike.
With its striking standard-trumpet form and rich golden hue, this yellow daffodil bulb variety is a true showstopper — one of the first flowers to break the winter silence and signal that spring has arrived.

- Plant bulbs in full sun or semi-shade
- Set bulbs at a depth of approximately 10cm (4in)
- Space bulbs approximately 10cm (4in) apart
- For a natural, drift-style effect, scatter bulbs by hand across beds or grass and plant them exactly where they land
California Narcissus look particularly eye-catching when grown as informal drifts in borders, wildflower areas, or naturalised in grass. Pair them with our other Spring Flowering Bulb Collections to create a continuous, colourful display from late winter through to early summer.
